Pride month is FAST approaching & I’m interested to see if any businesses have learned from their mistakes of the past years
The amount of logos changed for a month, window displays lasting just for pride. It’s all performative & exploitative, if in reality nothing is being done to support & accommodate LGBTQ+ people.
It’s estimated that business earn $917 billion annually from selling pride merchandise.
Many large business dont offer up any proceeds to LGBTQ+ organisations & charities. The ones that do often only give up small percentages.
It’s hard to imagine just how much help $917 billion could do for our community.
Although it’s great to see so much representation, if it’s not actively helping us it’s just counterproductive.
